Natalia Mamcarczyk

Natalia is a sound artist, designer and engineer, specialising in research in spatial and immersive audio, specifically Higher Order Ambisonics, Dolby Atmos, with main research focus in examining the user experience and translatability of those systems.

In 2023 achieved an MSc in Music Technology and Sound Production at University of Huddersfield, with specialisation in immersive technology and sound analysis, investigating meeting points between different spatialising techniques, and binaural audio experiences. Through her studies and MyWorld funded residency at Real World studios, she worked with multiple 3D microphone recording techniques to create realism and envelopment in her soundscape production.

In the years 2021-23 during residency at Hypha studios, created a public inclusive immersive audio performance and installation space for a variety of spatial audio formats. Since 2019 Natalia delivered a variety of workshops about Ambisonics and spatial audio at dBs Institute, where she is currently a lecturer. Experience of collaboration with young artists and audiences interacting with spatial audio, has provided a solid foundation for her knowledge on public understanding and adaptability of immersive technology.

Natalia has a record of artist development and 1-2-1 mentorship provision for young, emerging, and successful music producers, by supporting their projects with field recording, soundscape incorporation and spatial audio implementation (funded through British Council, PRS Foundation, ACE). Currently upskilling herself in Unreal Game Engine and the use of 3D audio in interactive, non-linear environments, she continues her research to benefits and adaptability of spatial audio formats through approachable and accessible user interfaces.
